Jan. 11th, 2005 12:34 amI had a rather marvelous weekend, which I must share.
As you will know (or now know) my birthday was last week. I saw a movie with
sandman7 and
luvenditti on Wednesday, and hung out with Matt on Thursday. And, on Saturday, a whole bunch of friends came over for supper and whatnot. I ended up making lasagna and trifle (both of which turned out quite well), and multiple people came over, chatted, ate, talked some more... it was altogether relaxed, with no set plan or schedule (which is probably a good thing - getting these people to do anything quickly is like herding ducks. I think it took about three hours to eat lasagna and cake). It was lovely, I was quite pleased, and everyone got along. Genevieve and John, two friends from Sherbrooke, ended up staying the entire weekend, which was also quite lovely.
However, job-wise, the weekend sucked. I got an e-mail from my boss on Saturday, saying that, hey, that deadline that was on the 21st? Well, we need the documents for Monday. Cheers! Thanks for the warning, really. So, being the sensible person that I am (of course), I ended up writing the minutes and review letters until 4:30 on Monday morning, at which time I sent the first drafts off to a co-worker who knows the details. Furthermore, I was lacking certain documents that made details a bit sketchy, and so there were comments in the margins of the minutes. Which is usually the case - the documents then get sent to me, corrected, I'll re-read and translate whatever got added in, and send them off to everyone. However, this time, the first draft got sent off to everyone by previously-mentioned co-worker. Including comments in the margins and all. Which makes me look careless, to start with, as well as being a general pain in the arse. Dammit, if you need the documents a week and a half early, and give me less than two days of warning to get them done, you can at least look them over before sending them off! How annoyed am I?
Add this to tonight's business meeting, which was the worse use of three hours that I can possibly think of, as well as tomorrow's 7 am meeting, and I'm getting well and truly annoyed at my job. I'm sure as hell glad it pays well. *sigh*
Emily? Feel like hanging out sometime soon-ish? I need venting.
