Feb. 11th, 2005 09:25 amThe city has decided to put apartment buildings across the street from my place. And so, they've been building these for the past year or so. It's reassuring to know how competent their electricians are, because the almost-finished building caught on fire last night, resulting in firemen and police officers and a bloody racket until three in the morning. The bright side is, of course, that since it was night and the building was still in construction, no one was hurt.
Of course, they shut off the electricity, so that research proposal that was due today? Not done. I'm going to have a marvelous time explaining this one to my prof... although it's improbable enough that she might actually believe me.
And this sleeping-5-hours-per-night thing? It's not working out. I'm tired and cranky, and feel very much like a three-year-old. Also, am I the only one who is always cold when tired? I spent the evening shivering (though, granted, that might have to do with the heat being out due to lack of electricity), and was still cold in the morning, despite the pile of blankets I was curled up under. And shivering enough that I slept clenching my teeth, so my jaw feels strange. Remind me to get some sleep. And that caffeine, while admitedly a food group in it's own right, should not be the only thing one consumes.
And Dad called me last night. He's coming back from Ottawa, and he'll be taking me out for supper. Which, yay! Sushi! I get along really well with my dad... And I'm quite pleased.
Oh, and I'll probably be making apple pie this weekend. Matt? Give me a call if you want to come over sometime for coffee/tea/pie/whatever... maybe after your class on Monday?
