Oct. 16th, 2007 11:32 amI've temporarily given up coffee.
I realized that, when I have a migraine (more and more frequent, and Highly Unappreciated), I can't deal with smells. And coffee has a fairly strong scent, so I can't get near it.
The problem, of course, is that then I get to deal with a headache from the caffeine withdrawal.
I have decided that I damn well refuse to be chemically dependent, and I don't CARE if this is a socially acceptable addiction. So, I've put up with two days worth of withdrawal headaches and general pissiness, and... I woke up this morning and I was functional, without coffee. No headache. No needing coffee to get awake or to function.
I think I like this.
That said, I still love the taste of coffee, so I'm not intending to cut it out altogether. If you see me going out for breakfast, chances are I'll have a coffee with my pancakes. If I'm reading in a bookstore, I'll have a latte. But I refuse to be dependent on the stuff in order to function.
