If I had the time to write it, there would be a 3-page rant about my WMST 301 teacher here. Since I don't HAVE any such time, let me just say that she has a gift of presenting situations and arguments that basically construct a scene into a trap in which, if you're white, you're an oppressor of all people of color everywhere, and to say anything to contradict that is basically to fall into any of the traps she's set through her use of other theories and articles. In other words: I'm being told that anything I do that even approaches a woman of color is basically to calm my own guilt over the historic oppression of women of color, and that there's nothing I can do about that. Frankly, at this point? Bite me. Bite me hard. Really. ... I can't even begin to articulate all the ways in which I disagree with her. But, basically? At this point? If she says something, I'm pretty well guaranteed to be against it.
