Oct. 20th, 2005 11:06 pmI had supper with my mother tonight, and it was surprisingly pleasant. Actually, we talked a lot about my granddad - who, for the record, rocked - and it helped, somewhat.
She also enlightened me as to certain aspects of family history, specifically concerning my immediate family's tenuous (read: non-existant) relationship with my father's mother, who I cannot bring myself to refer to as grandmother. Being a grandmother is earned. I HAVE a grandmother, who I occasionally really don't agree with, but she cares, and she rocks. This one? Has been a flamingly hypocritical bitch for years. That said. We talked, and I got the long story of why she basically acts like that... and, while I won't go into details, I have to say that my granddad rocks more than I'd ever thought before (and that, seriously, he's one of the few men I really and truly admire and respect), and that That Woman is a complete flamingly hypocritical hell-possessed bitch. Someone tell me that biologically, two generations of difference make enough of a shift in DNA that I'm not that closely related to her, please? Ick.
And, no classes tomorrow. Squee! So, naturally, I'll be able to clean, and write two essay proposals, and read 18th century literature, and FINALLY see friends for Buffy night (which has been getting continually cancelled and postponed for the past 4 weeks). Yay for friends. Really, yay for friends.
