foi_nefasteDo you know where the word snob comes from? Do you? Huh? Ancien Regime France, that's where! With the formation of the Bourgeoisie, as short-hand for 'sans-noblesse' (s-nob) to indicate which schoolchildren were not among the nobility!
Etymology through History classes. I knew there was a reason I was inflicting this upon myself.
The problem, though, is that the book recommended by the prof for tomorrow's presentation turns out to fit perfectly well in another girl's presentation, but not in mine. (I'm to do 'comfort', she does 'family'. A book called A Taste for Comfort and Status ends up being about families and jobs. Which does not help me at all. So I shall be at the library quite early tomorrow morning, doing research. I love teachers who don't bother to read books before recommending them. I really do.)
In other comments, I went to the Nano meeting tonight, and met some really fun people. Which is quite lovely, in it's own right. And had a marvelous conversation about fantasy novels.
And raiding your parents fridge guarantees food for a week. Going back to Sherbrooke for a weekend does have advantages other than friends and *ahem* entertainment.
A reminder : anyone wanting to see the second season of Buffy is quite welcome to show up at my apartment tomorrow evening. Just let me know, and I'll give directions.
