Reading meme

Well, I'm finally checking my flist (due to procrastination over that horrendous pile of work). So... I'm very sorry if I missed something important. If I do anyways, let me know.
Until then, a certain meme seems to have been going around. And yes,
em_fish, I'm answering it. So, I give you... the
1 )Total number of books owned?
Well, there's the wall covered with books, the bookcase on the other wall, and the 6 boxes of books in my closet. If you want to count, go for it. I'll go with 'a lot'.
2) The last book I bought?
Preludes and Nocturnes - the first graphic novel of the Sandman series by Gaiman. I'm in love with it. In actual novel-type of book, I last got a hardcover edition of The Lord of the Rings, since my paperbacks are very meh-ish, and because I like the feel of holding a huge brick of a book.
3) The last book I read?
Odds and Gods by Tom Holt, because The Roommate lent it to me a month ago and I haven't had reading time.
4) Five books that mean a lot to me:
* The Lord of the Rings. Because its been among my favorites since I was a kid, because the story is lovely, the characters are amazing, and I adore long-winded descriptions.
* The Hunter's Moon, by O. R. Melling. I first read this in fifth grade, and fell head over heels in love with it. The interaction of Faerie and modern life, one might say. With brilliant characters. And beautifully written. (The Book of Dreams, the fourth one in this series, is also absolutely spectacular. Just for the record.)
* Callahan's Key, by Spider Robinson. Utterly ridiculous, based entirely on puns, and extremely silly... it nevertheless manages to put me in a good mood every time I read it. There's something to be said for comfort-reading, after all...
* Neil Gaiman. Anything he's written, more or less. I adore his novels (Neverwhere more than American Gods, but just be a wee bit), I'm in love with his short stories, and Sandman becomes a category in itself. I honestly can't narrow it down, but they're all important to me, in some way - they make me think, they open possibilities, they entertain... and they're extremely well-written. All of them. So.
* Meditations on Middle Earth. A book of essays supposed to be about Lord of the Rings (and marketed as such), but the actual essays are written by fairly prominent fantasy writers (most of who I've read and liked) about fantasy literature in general. Brings up interesting questions, and I actually agree with these essays rather more than with those I've been reading for classes - probably because these put some sort of emphasis on actually enjoying what you're reading, rather than just attempting to rip it apart. So, yay for randomly interesting essays?
5) Tag 5 people and have them put this in their journal
hyperallergina, because of her reading habits.
maidenofirisa, because of cool books and mangas.
bob_onherown, in the interest of chick lit. ;)
mousme, because of Sharpe (and other things).
and...
sandman7, because of multiple book-discussions.
Or, of course, don't answer. I'm not forcing, just interested. ;)
Ta, everyone.
